Welcome to the Home of the Mustangs

Welcome to Frances Brandon-Pickett Elementary School, located in Queen Creek, Arizona. You’ll find us south of Ocotillo Road and west of Rittenhouse. We are an elementary school serving students in the kindergarten through fourth grades, and are one of seven schools in the Queen Creek School District.

Our parents and community members support our school and students, and our superb faculty is dedicated to educating young minds. We are extremely proud of our students and staff, whose collective hard work again earned our school an “A” rating from the Arizona Board of Education!

Mission Statement

Principal's Message

Dear Pickett Families,

It’s that time of year when the hallways fill with shuffling feet and happy voices, and I can’t wait! I’m looking forward to seeing everyone at Pickett's Meet the Teacher night on Monday, July 20. While you are on campus meeting your new teacher, don’t forget to stop by the cafeteria and put money on your child’s lunch account, talk to the PTO to see what opportunities are available, talk to someone from transportation about bus routes, and get information from our other community partners (Discovery Kids, Girl Scouts, Banner Health, and First Things First).

We sent out welcome back letters in the middle of June; if by chance you didn’t receive a letter, give us a call at (480) 987-7420, and we will let you know your class assignment for this year. We also included supply lists for the year with your welcome back letter. Extra copies are available in the office; please contact us if you need another copy. On our website under the Parent link you will find the student handbook, QCUSD’s technology policies, food service information, tax credit information, voter registration, and various annual notifications. The annual notifications provide parents with important information regarding special education policies that include the following:

  • Confidentiality of Student Education Records
  • 504 Notification to Parents
  • Child Find Identification
  • Parents Right to Know (Teacher Qualifications)
  • Special Education Rights and Procedures
  • Use of Technology Policies and Procedures

If you would like a copy of any of the notifications, please let the office know, and we will provide you with a copy.

We will be continuing with our online grading system, ParentVue, which provides you with updated grades, including missing assignments. Your child's teacher will give you the passwords the first week of school. Once you log on you will be able to personalize the types of alerts you would like to receive. In addition to ParentVue, we will be utilizing School Messenger to send out alerts and other school information.

School spirit day is every Friday, and we encourage students to wear our school colors (blue and green) or a school t-shirt. We will recognize the class with the highest participation on the announcements, and that class will get bragging rights for the week! If you are interested in purchasing a school spirit shirt, we will have them available for sale in the office for $8 during meet the teacher night.

I’m looking forward to another great school year. As always, thank you for your continued support of Frances Brandon-Pickett Elementary.

Common Core

The Common Core Standards are here. We are implementing them in our classrooms across the district.

Arizona, along with 46 other states, worked to create standards in English language arts and math for the K-12 curriculum.

The standards provide the framework to help prepare students for success in college and/or the workplace. Please visit the links below for more information.
